Ecclesiastes 3:1 & 2

1 To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
ALLAN C. BOWEN, SR. 78, formerly of Hamden, CT received a summons-on Monday October 6, 2025, from the VA Medical Hospital, West Haven, CT following a lengthy illness.
Allan C. Bowen, Sr was born on Tuesday November 12, 1946, at Grace New Haven Hospital,
New Haven, CT (Yale-New Haven Health).
Allan attended New Haven Public School systems graduating in 1965 from James Hillhouse High School. He entered the United States Army in 1965 and served in Vietnam 1966-1967. Upon returning he worked at YNHH. He also worked at Winchester's Repeating Arms as security. He worked at Geometrics Tools until its closure in 1974. Allan then worked at Connecticut Limousine for twenty-three (23) years then he retired. But he couldn't sit still and do nothing, so he returned to the workforce for Sid Weiner and the USPS. He permanently retired from working due to medical conditions from his time in Vietnam. Allan was an above average bowler receiving many trophies and loved playing spades with family and friends.
Allan attended and worship at St. Paul UAME Church where the Reverend Joseph Bash was the pastor - where he grew up and would meet and eventually marry the love of his life Barbara Bellinger Bowen of fifty-six (56) years. To this union Tonja, LaChelle and Allan "AC" C. Bowen Jr. He later in wife attended and worshiped at Powerhouse Temple Ministries where the Apostle Lonnell Lawson was the pastor. He was a dedicated husband, and father, coaching Pop Smith for six (6) years and was also an alum of Dixwell Q House.
Allan was a father figure to not just his own children, but also to his nieces and nephews, and to the children in the community. He had no problem discipling your children if they were caught heading in the wrong direction.
He leaves to cherish his memories of his life, his loving wife Barbara L. Bowen, son, Allan, Jr. of Hamden, CT; two daughters Tonja Bowen of West Haven, CT and LaChelle Bowen of
New Haven, CT; Two sisters: Augustina Howard of Florida, and Deborah Hernandez of Hamden. Three Grandchildren: Domonique (Kemp), Dajon (Briyana), and KeJuan Bowen. Nine (9) Great grands, Two godsons Steven Lassiter, Greenville, North Carolina and Jamal Bines of West Haven, CT., Six (6) sisters-in-laws, two (2) brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Allan C Bowen, Sr was predeceased by his parents Wesley and Alice Freeman Bowen, his loving great aunt Hazel Bowen, two brothers Robert and Gaylord Bowen
