Mary Moody Obituary

Mary Ann Seay-Moody, beloved wife of Ronald Moody, Sr. received her wings to fly away to her home on high on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at home after a brief illness. She was born on March 13, 1951, in Nashville, Tennessee to the late William Simmons and Mae Lillian Seay-Patterson.
Mary Ann came to New Haven at an early age. She was enrolled in the New Haven Public School System, graduating from James Hillhouse High School, class of sixty-nine. Mary Ann entered the field of work, where she held down numerous jobs and positions, even having her own business as The Cake Lady. Wherever there was a need and void she took it on for a little extra cash flow. Mary Ann was employed by Walgreen's Pharmacy and retired as a Pharmacy Technician. She filled prescriptions, greeted, and met many people, bringing smiles to their faces, as well as hers.
Mary Ann was a born-again Christian and a faithful member at Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church, serving in many capacities; a Trustee on the Trustee Board, The Women's Guild, Praying Hands Ministry, Mass Choir, and a former President on the Usher Board, she wore many hats. She loved serving her Lord and Savior. Mary Ann loved to greet you with a hug and smile. Pastor King and some others had a special passcode to her heart on speed dial.
Mary Ann loved traveling, near and far. She had a fun time with many, but most of all you would find her on a well-planned vacation with her mother and aunties, traveling the world. She enjoyed life to the fullest. Some of her hobbies were sewing, fashion, baking pies, cakes, and cookies, because she was known as The Cake Lady. Mary Ann loved to read; she was a avid reader, you can always count on her having a good novel. Mary Ann's fashion style stood out especially the shoes and handbags.
Mary Ann was not a biological mother but still had a mother's instinct. She helped raise her grandson Naquan and helped take care of so many other children that loved her dearly. She also helped with her nieces and nephews keeping them in line, letting them know family and love is the key to life.
To her husband Ron (AKA Boo Be), she was a good wife and wanted everyone to know. To her core of friends, she loved you so much. She said tell all of those who helped or did anything to make this journey a little bit easier to bear, let them know, she loved and appreciated each and every one.
Mary Ann was predeceased by her parents; brother, Marcus Patterson; sister, Katherine Patterson; and four aunts, Margaret Watley, Katherine Moore, Virginia Seay, and Dorothy Brown. She leaves behind a long legacy of memories, husband, Ronald Moody, Sr.; children, Ronald Moody, Jr, of New Haven, CT. and Shanda Brogdon (Kenny) of East Haven, CT; three brothers, Michael Seay (Tiffiney) of Lavergne, TN., David Patterson (Gina) of Hamden, CT., and Ronnie Patterson of New Haven, CT.; two sisters, Margaret Patterson of Nashville, TN. and Beverly Patterson of Hamden, CT.; grandchildren, Bobby Fields, Shawn Brogdon, and Naquan Moody; great-grandson, Prince Brogdon; many sisters-in-law near and far; and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, and many friends.
