Argiro Thomas

Argiro Thomas, age 92, of Lumberton, N.J. passed away peacefully at the Samaritan Hospice Unit in Mount Holly on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. Born and raised in New York City, she lived there and worked for ten years as a bookkeeper at a bank. As a military wife, she lived several years in Georgia before moving to Lumberton in 1963. Argiro had worked as a lunch aide for the Lumberton Township Board of Education before her retirement. She was a member at the St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church in Cherry Hill, N.J. Argiro was proud of and took great pride in her beautiful yard and flower gardens. In addition to her love of her gardens, she had a passion for animals. Argiro was pre-deceased by her husband, Stephen in 2002, a brother, William Poupos, and her parents, Stamitis and Antigoni (Gorges) Poupos. She is survived by a son; Spiros Thomas and his wife, Marcia, three step-grandchildren, Clinton Austin, Christopher Austin, and Carri Nava and her husband, Gabriel, a daughter; Joann DiRoberto and her husband, Sal, two grandsons, Joseph and Lorenzo and his wife, Hannah, and one great-grandson, Braxton. She was very close to her nephews who she kept very near and dear to her heart, Steve Poupos (Louise) and Jimmy Poupos (Kim) Relatives and friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High Street, Mount Holly, N.J. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A funeral procession will form at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025 and committal prayers will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the Brig. General Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, North Hanover, N.J.
