Arlene R. Daun, age 97, formerly of St. Cloud, died Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Caring Hands Assisted Living in New Holstein.
Arlene Baus was born April 3, 1927, in Fond du Lac to the late Benedict Baus and Irene (Meier) Baus.
Arlene attended St. Cloud Catholic Grade School, New Holstein High School and graduated from St. Mary Springs High School. After high school, Arlene worked in a lab for an oil company in Milwaukee and she worked as a waitress at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee. She then took alternating waitress jobs in Tucson, Arizona (winters) and Denver, Colorado (summers) until her father died in 1957. Then she moved back to St. Cloud to help run the family store. On April 15, 1961, she married Leonard Daun at St. Cloud Church. After marriage, she and her husband lived in St. Cloud and raised their family. In 1969, she took a job at Sargento Cheese in Plymouth where she worked until she retired in 1989. Arlene enjoyed golfing and traveling with her husband and their friends.
Arlene was a member of Our Lady of the Holyland Catholic Church-St. Cloud Site and the Christian Women's Society. She was a charter member of the St. Cloud American Legion Auxiliary and remained a member for 68 years. Arlene was a regular volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Drive.
She is survived by her husband Lenny; her children, David (Kathy) Daun of Brillion, Andrew Daun of Madison and Jane (Bob) Tremblay of Chelmsford, Massachusetts; five grandchildren, Jonathan (Meaghan) Daun, Brendan (Stephanie) Daun, Rachel (Taylor) Geiger, Lucas Tremblay, and Sarah Tremblay; six great-grandchildren, Emily Daun, Lydia Daun, Isaac Daun, Sophia Geiger, Ava Geiger and Charlotte Geiger; one brother, Eugene (Marilyn) Baus; brother-in-law, Harvey (Eileen) Daun; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Benedict and Irene Baus; her in-laws, Hugo and Marie Daun; an infant son; her sister Charlotte (Glenn) Ringeisen; her brother, Harold (Virgie) Baus; her brother-in-law, Willard Daun; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Daun and Evelyn Daun; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, October 25, 2024 at Our Lady of the Holyland Catholic Church-St. Cloud Site, 924 Main Street in St. Cloud. Rev. Larry Abler OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will be at the St. Cloud parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the church on October 25 from 9:30 AM to 11:15 AM. A memorial fund will be established in her name.

She was a great lady. I used to take care of her. Her and Lenny were a sweet couple. I think they have a great family. She loved watching sports and talking about her family. She was a kind and understanding woman and her kids would bring flowers yearly to the home for all the residents. Miss u
