On July 1, 2023 Arlene M. "Swartz" Louis (77) was spiritually released from her earthly body inside of
her home. She transitioned peacefully and pain free in the company of her husband, Rodney Louis.
Arlene was an avid bingo player, bowler, fisher, and collectors of porcelain dolls, dolphins, and
elephants.
Arlene was born at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on December 10, 1945 to Louis Ellis Swartz and
Grace Williams. Arlene married her husband Rodney on October 3, 1989 in Poughkeepsie. Their union
lasted until the end of her earthly journey.
Arlene is predeceased by her father, mother, brother David Swartz Sr., and sisters Betty Greene, Shirley
Lasher, Sandy Swartz and Judy Veech. She is survived by her children Stephen Wood Jr., Grace Wood,
Marion Greenfield, Joel Swartz and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by
her sisters Barbara Davis, Alice Johnson, Joanne Miller, niece Cindy and many more nieces and nephews.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will forever be missed by all.
Viewing arrangements have been scheduled for Friday, July 7, 2023 from 12:00 pm, until 2:00 pm. The
viewing will be held at Joseph J. Darrow Funeral Home located at 39 South Hamilton Street
Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
