Arline Gail (Reeder) Hamilton Walters, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20, 2023, with her loving family by her side. She resided under hospice care at Fahrney-Keedy following an extended illness. Born on July 29, 1939, in East Pittsburg, she was the daughter of the late Elsie Mae Freidel and Glenn Howard Reeder.
Arline is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dennis Walters; two daughters, Lynda Hamilton Petrides and husband Peter, of CT, Cynthia Hamilton Coughlin, of MD; two sons, Darrell Walters and wife Carrie, of MD, and Kevin Walters and wife Danielle, of MD; one sister, Laurel Hope Reeder Arnold of OK, as well as grandchildren, William, Joseph and Timothy Petrides, Elizabeth Petrides Ruddock, Ian Walters, Hannah Coughlin, Corey and Lauren Walters, Joshua Butler and Ashley Butler Orr. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Clara Petrides, Isla and Meara Ruddock, Jared Butler, and one on the way, Lincoln William.
She was predeceased by brother Glenn Reeder and sister Norma Reeder Dupuis.
Arline worked as a civil servant for the US government beginning at Lackland AFB and retiring from Ft Ritchie. She earned many service awards during her career.
She earned her AA degree from Hagerstown Junior College in 1993 with high honors after her retirement.
She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church for many years and sang in various choirs and sang many solos. She was very involved with the children of the church as a teacher, choir director, and VBS leader.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD.
The funeral service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Rest Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
Entombment will be on Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way, Suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
