Arline "Odie" Kennedy

Arline "Odie" Kennedy passed peacefully in Massillon, Ohio on July 30th, 2025 at 84 years old.
Arline is survived by her children, Dawn (Dave) Jones and Sean (Arlinia) Kennedy; sisters, Barb Brown, Carol (Mike) Birtic, Diane (Roy) Ward; grandchildren, Jen (Mike) Fry, Shawn (Jessica) Jones, Jacque (Jimmy) Kennedy Zazo, Kailey (Aaron) Clark; as well as 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Angeline Manist; and brother-in-law, Richard Brown.
Arline was born on November 21, 1940 in Canton, Ohio to Frank and Angeline Manist. After she graduated from Lincoln High School in Canton, Ohio, she attended Kent State Univeristy. She created a career working as an accountant for G.E. Capital, often praised for her perfect attendance. She settled down in Canton, Ohio and had 2 children of her own, Dawn and Sean, not as well known for their perfect attendance. After retiring from G.E. Capital she began working at Angelique's Quilt Shop and Nancie's Flowers.
Arline was an accomplished crafter, known well for her quilting, painting, sewing, and was a member of Canton's Quilters Guild. Arline and her sisters were active at the Atwood Area Fall Festival. There you could find them working together under the title Four Sister's Crafts. They were long time reigning champs of "Best Display" at the festival. She was passionate about gardening and was well known for her beautiful hydrangeas, peonies, and her midnight ladies. She made sure to pass down these passions through her generations and enjoyed working with her grandchildren on any craft they showed interest in. She also liked baking and sharing those homemade treats with the loved ones around her. If you knew Arline, you also knew she was a great napper and in her later life received "The Best Napper" award.
Calling hours are scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, 2025 between 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. taking place at Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel (705 Raff Rd SW, Canton, OH 44710). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Parish at the former St. Anthony (St. Benedict) Church (1530 11th St SE, Canton, Ohio 44707). Burial services will follow at Calvary Cemetery (3469 Lincoln Way E, Massillon, Ohio 44646). All are welcome to attend and celebrate Arline's life. With Arline being an avid flower lover, flowers are appreciated and accepted.
