Armando "Mando" Garza, Jr.
Armando "Mando" Garza Jr., 56, passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021, in Louisville, KY. He was the son of Frances Garza and the late Armando Morales Garza, of Taft, Texas.
Mando is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Judy McIntire-Garza, daughter Isabella Marie Garza and son Andrew Druien. He is also survived by his mother, Frances Garza, sister Norma Jean Fuentes (Ramiro), and in-laws; Jennifer Gillroy (Tom). Additionally, he is survived by a loving family of numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mando began his law enforcement career with the United States Air Force, followed by the University of Louisville Police Department, and finally the Jeffersontown Police Department where he retired as a Sergeant. He also served as a School Resource Officer for numerous schools in Jeffersontown. His second career centered on his love for taking pictures, especially sports photography, which led to him starting his own business, IMG Photography.
Mando was very involved in the community. He volunteered for Down Syndrome of Louisville (DSL) and worked for the Jeffersontown Fire Department as a photographer. He had a love of baseball and coached many different baseball teams over the years. Above all he was the most supportive and most involved Dance Dad. He supported not only his daughter but every dancer on the floor. His involvement included everything from making props to taking pictures. He was loved by everyone who met him and made a positive impact on so many lives.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 29, 2021, from 12-8:00 pm at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 10600 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, KY 40299, with the Rosary to begin at 7:30. A Requiem Mass at Our Lady of the Pillar will be Thursday, December 30 at 11 am, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery at 1 pm. If you would like to attend the Requiem Mass, please refer to olpchapel.org and click on "Visiting?" for information about attending.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Down Syndrome of Louisville, 5001 S. Hurstbourne Parkway, Louisville, KY 40291 and Jeffersontown Fraternal Order of Police, P.O. Box 99826, Louisville, KY 40269. Memories of Mando and messages of support for the family can be shared at Ratterman.com.

I knew of "Mando " through line dancing @ Coyote's...he was an awesome dancer. Always with a smile on his face for everyone. He will be dearly missed. May God give comfort & healing to his family during this time !
