Arnoldo (Arnold) Longoria Ramos, Sr. passed away on January 2, 2026. Arnold was born on August 11, 1952, to Andrea Longoria & Roberto Ramos, Sr. and he would be the first to joyfully admit he was responsible for many of his parents' early gray hairs. However, his parents instilled the virtue of hard work from an early age.
When Arnold met local entrepreneur, N.B. "Pop" Chiles, few would have predicted that the "old man" would take him under his wing and build a foundation of trust that led to a long partnership across numerous startups in a wide range of industries.
Arnold first joined Pop at N.B.C. Salvage, where he started as a clerk and then later managed the on-site filling station. His willingness to learn, friendly nature, and sometimes off-color humor won over both new and returning customers.
Their next venture led them to purchase property on Saratoga Boulevard, where they built The Bumble Bee, a popular country-western nightclub. After its successful run, they went on to open The Yellow Rose, another country-western club that drew large crowds and was frequented by well-known artists of the era, including Willie Nelson, Ronnie Milsap, Alabama, and Crystal Gayle. Local celebrities, police officers, constables, sheriff's deputies, politicians, as well as country-western artists all knew Arnold and Pop by name. The Yellow Rose was the place to see and be seen.
After the "Urban Cowboy" era came to an end, Arnold and Pop moved on to yet another venture: The Brass Turtle Restaurant, located in Ingleside on the Bay. Across that enormous parking lot, directly on the water's edge, sat a dock and shrimp house, where Arnold worked closely with local fishermen and shrimpers to bring customers the freshest seafood straight from their own dock. Many who knew him best fondly remember the white T-shirt, blue jeans, and white rubber shrimp boots all too well. Arnold served as both head chef and restaurant manager, taking pride in being hands-on and leading a quality team. Many remember these businesses with fondness and class.
Arnold was a true "front-line" kind of man - hardworking, dependable, and deeply personable. If you knew him, you were his best friend. However, he had no problem telling you his thoughts and wouldn't back down from a fight if pushed far enough. He also took great pride in passing these traits down to his three children and it tickled him endlessly when the kids were in trouble for acting as he would.
Eventually, Arnold returned to school and earned his Master Electrician license, a trade he proudly practiced until his retirement while working with Halliburton and Brown & Root.
Arnold is preceded in death by his father, Roberto Ramos, Sr., his mother Andrea Longoria Ramos. He is survived by his son, Arnold (Joanne) Ramos, Jr. of Corpus Christi; his daughters, Belinda (Carl) Peterson of Plano, Texas, Mary Ellen Ramos (William Lynch) of Lake Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Alyssa Ramos of Corpus Christi, Paige and Quinn Peterson of Plano, Texas, and Nadia Pafford, Riley Lynch and Willow Lynch of Lake Dallas, Texas.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Arnoldo's neighbors for their strong sense of community and always lending a helping hand. Your kindness and support mean more than words can ever express.
