Our dedicated and loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023, at Colonnades Assisted Living in Bay City, age 98. Arthur was born October 25, 1924, in Bay City, Michigan to the late Aloysius and Lucille (Zielinski) Kowalkowski. He was a proud veteran, receiving a Bronze Star while serving his country with the US Army during WWII. Shortly after returning from his deployment, he married the love of his life Geraldine Pollum on February 20, 1950, and she predeceased him on December 23, 2010. Arthur worked at Bay City Chevrolet for over 40 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Church, American Legion Post 18, and Past Commander of the DAV. Arthur enjoyed gardening, planting roses and was an avid golfer. He loved tinkering, repairing and most importantly relaxing while at his cottage in AuGres.
Left to carry-on his legacy are his three daughters: Ardith (Ken) Reszke, Marsha (George) Thomas and Gretchen (Mark) Smith, eight grandchildren: Stephanie Reszke, Josh (Debbie) Reszke and Zachary Reszke, Jeremy Thomas, Derek Thomas, Amanda Thomas, Melissa (Mike) Karcher and Chad (Amy) Thomas, nine great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Arthur was predeceased by a granddaughter Nicole Thomas, two sisters, Patricia (Ed) Wenglikowski, Dorothy (Frank) Sniecinski and a sister-in-law Patricia (Edward) LaVictor.
Arthur's daughters would like to thank all the staff at Colonnades Assisted Living for their loving assistance and friendships made over the past several months. Also, a special thank you to Careline Hospice for all the kind and compassionate care given to our father.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish-St. Stanislaus Church, 1503 Kosciuszko Ave., Bay City, MI 48708. Fr. Rick Filary will celebrate Mass and private entombment will be in St. Patrick Mausoleum. Military Honors, under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council and the US Army will be held after Mass in the church plaza. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the ARC of Bay County or OLC Parish.
