Timothy S. Marciniak, our beloved husband, father, son, brother and dear friend to so many, passed away with his family at his side early Friday morning, October 10, 2025 at McLaren Bay Region following a recent illness that he faced with great faith, courage and the best attitude you could imagine. He was born on March 23, 1968 in Bay City and has resided in the area since. Tim was a graduate of All Saints Catholic High School, class of 1986. He went on to further his education at CMU where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Education and then earned his Master of Education from SVSU.
Tim then began his career in education, dedicating 33 years to mentoring and influencing generations of students. He started as a fourth-grade teacher at Auburn Elementary, moving to Western Middle School where he taught math and language arts. Tim was then appointed assistant principal of T.L. Handy High School, followed by serving as principal of MacGregor Elementary. In 2006 he was appointed principal of Bay City Central High School, where he would remain for the next 17 years as the longest-serving principal in the 100+ year history of BCC. Since 2023 Tim has been the principal of Saginaw Nouvel Catholic Central High School and Junior High. His time with students, faculty, staff, and parents at BCC and NCC meant the world to him.
A teacher, educator, and mentor in every sense, Tim's impact on students, staff, and our community is infinite. He often said he showed up for work because of the kids. While he was an educator first, he had so much fun with the students, whether it be in the classroom, at a sporting event or supporting the arts. Tim was a volunteer coach at several different schools over the years, mostly coaching basketball, and always enjoyed the friendly rivalry with Western High School. His favorite time of day was lunchtime with the students, and the way the cooks spoiled him, he never missed lunch. He could have written a book with all his famous "Dad" jokes! Tim loved his students, they loved him back, and he was highly respected by his peers. The impact he has had on the lives of so many is immeasurable.
Tim was a huge fan of all types of music and enjoyed going to concerts and singing karaoke. He enjoyed watching sci-fi movies, trying his luck on scratch off tickets, playing games from backgammon to cards, and making friendly wagers. Since childhood Tim has been an avid sports fan, playing football, basketball, tennis and golf and always looked forward to his weekend golf trips with his buddies. He took pride in his immaculate lawn and keeping his pool sparkling clean. Tim has been a longtime member of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish in Essexville, the Knights of Columbus and P.L.A.V. #162 in Bay City. For many years he volunteered at the Munger Potato Festival with his family.
Tim's passion for his professional work and relationships was surpassed only by his love of family. He was a wonderful husband and the most excellent father to his children. They, along with his mother, siblings, in-laws, nieces, and nephews, will miss his love, wisdom, compassion, advice, patience, and warmth, along with his infectious humor and shenanigans. Tim was so looking forward to Madi's upcoming wedding and watching Ryan's sporting events.
Tim touched the lives of so many. He will be sorely missed, but the blessings of his life will endure.
A heartfelt thank you to all the amazing nurses and doctors at McLaren Bay Region who helped care for Tim, and a special thank you to Dr. Abramson for his expertise and kindness.
On September 29, 2007 Tim was united in marriage to Stefanie Benson and they have had 18 cherished years together. He is also survived by his two children, Madison Marciniak (Austin Kane) and Ryan Marciniak; his mother, Kathryn (Ryan) Marciniak; his brothers and a sister, Steven (Julie) Marciniak, Mary Jo (Gary) Fralick and Patrick Marciniak and his partner, Kelli; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Delbert and Mary Benson; a sister-in-law, Darlene (George) Rierson; two brothers-in-law, Kenny (Stacie) Benson and Reid (Vita) Benson; his nieces and nephews, Noah, Mariel, Ben (Kaylynn), Nate (Mini), Kane, Hannah, Amelia (Chase), Blake, Cade (Erica), Dirk, Cam, Brady, Brooke, Maya and Macy; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and the family dog, Buster. Tim was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Marciniak, in 2012.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish with Rev. Peter Gaspeny, Rev. TJ Fleming and Dcn. Timothy Hartwig presiding.
