Arthur Albert McDonald, age 82, followed a Great Stag into the Light, on December 15, 2023, in his home at Lynwood Manor, Adrian, MI. He was born April 9, 1941, in Adrian, Michigan to Arthur and Lula (Waltz) McDonald. Art spent his automotive career of 30 years with American Chain & Cable, where he served as the Shop Steward, Committee Man and Vice President of the UAW. Art was an accomplished Racing Homer pigeon competitor and judge and was a member of both the Maple City Pigeon Club and the Ypsilanti Pigeon Club. Later in life, Art became a Cur breeder and trainer of sporting dogs and was a member of the National Cur and Feist Breeders Association. All his life, Art remained an avid fisherman and huntsman and spent endless hours with other community enthusiast at his favorite spot, Johnson's Sporting Goods.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Thomas, his sister Sharon, his daughter Kim, and his grandson Chadd. He is survived by his devoted brother and best friend, Jerry McDonald (Iris); six children: Kari Huff (Michael), Michelle Vlastnik (Scott), Vanessa McDonald, Arthur McDonald II, Carrie DeShea Swift (Vincent), and Dustin McDonald; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His many nieces and nephews and their families will also mourn him.
Art will be laid to rest during a private family interment that will take place at the family burial site at Oakwood Cemetery in Adrian on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Lenawee Humane Society, https://lenhumanesoc.org or (517) 263-3463 can be made in his honor; to celebrate the memory of all his beloved hounds, that are sure to have welcomed him Home on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.
