It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David McDonald, who left us peacefully on August 18, 2025, at the age of 66, after a courageous 11-year battle with cancer.
Dave was born in Wenatchee in 1958. He attended Lake Stevens High School and Central Washington University, where he graduated with bachelor's degrees in both History and Political Science. He went on to become a successful and revered salesman, spending the last two decades of his career with MacDonald Meat before retiring in 2021. Dave cared deeply for his work and his customers. He developed and maintained countless long-lasting relationships and friendships with people all over the world.
Dave was a loving and involved husband and father. He coached or assisted in many seasons of basketball and football for both of his children. He enjoyed traveling, good food and cooking for others. He will be remembered for his deep voice, warmth, generosity, witty sense of humor, and unparalleled ability to make friends wherever he went. He had a deep love for family and friends and cherished creating the memories that will remain a source of comfort for those he left behind.
He is survived by his wife Lori; son Joe; daughter Kim; parents Betty and Larry McDonald; sister Marcia Erwin (Greg); and favorite niece and nephew, Michelle Lilgreen (Mark) and Jeff Erwin (Alyssa); along with many other relatives and friends who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
His unwavering spirit in the face of illness was an inspiration to all who knew him, reminding us daily of his values of hope, love, and resilience.
A celebration to honor Dave's life will be held at a later date. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Fred Hutch Cancer Center in his memory. Alternatively, please consider donating blood or platelets. Dave consistently donated blood before he was diagnosed with cancer and afterwards received large amounts of it for treatment.
