Lawrence Michael Farrell passed away on February 5, 2024, at the age of 89. Larry will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generosity, kindness and love for his family and friends.

Larry was born on June 10, 1934 in Niagara Falls, New York, to Hugh and Margaret (Mohan) Farrell. He graduated from Bishop Duffy High School in 1952 and from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY in 1956. He joined the Navy, attended Officer Candidate School, and commissioned in May of 1958. In 1960, Larry married Nancy Jane Feeney.

Larry began his 20- year Navy career on the destroyer USS Vandivier before volunteering for submarine duty. He served on the USS Dogfish, USS Drum and USS Tench. While stationed in Washington, DC, Larry attended night school at The Catholic University Columbus School of Law, graduated in 1965 and passed the Virginia Bar. Larry worked in the Navy Support Legal offices in Charleston, SC, Danang, S. Vietnam, Naples, Italy and various Navy JAG offices in the Washington, DC area. He retired as a Commander in 1977.

Larry joined the Washington, DC law firm McKenna Conner & Cuneo LLP in 1977. He became a Partner and specialized in the firm's respected government contracts practice until 2004. Larry then worked in legal and contracts divisions at Northrup Grumman Corporation and with XL Associates, retiring in 2016.

Larry was proceeded in death by his parents and brother, Robert. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Suzanne Donahue (Potter) Farrell; sisters Irene Banks and Alexis Williams; his children Margaret Farrell Gough (Brian), Michael and Matthew Farrell (Amy Hoffmann), Alison Potter (Greg Ekey) and Kirsten Potter (Charlie Kimball); seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Larry will be buried with full honors in Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, September 15, 2025. There will be a Catholic Mass at 3 PM at the Old Post Chapel, followed by a reception at the Patton Community Center, Fort Meyer. All attendees are required to show a Real ID and enter through the Hatfield Gate, Fort Meyer, 29 Carpenter Rd. Please consult the Arlington National Cemetery website www.arlingtoncemetery.mil.
