Arun Shankar, age 51, passed away peacefully at Riverside Methodist Hospital on Saturday, February 15, 2025, after a sudden illness, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Arun was born on June 25, 1973, in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Dan & Prema Shankar. Moving often, the family made their home in the Knoxville area of Tennessee for his formative years where Arun became a voracious fan of the Tennessee Volunteers. In high school, Arun moved to Columbus, Ohio, and quickly made friends due to his fun-loving nature and kind heart.
Arun graduated from Dublin Coffman High School in 1991. Working in the hospitality industry for many years, he continued to make long-lasting friendships wherever he went. In 2009, he met the love of his life, Leighana. They were married in 2014; their firstborn son, Logan Howard, arrived in 2016. Keegan Prasad was born in 2020. His sons were the light of his life and he thoroughly adored “daddy-buddy” time, whether it was playing sports, going out to eat, or jamming to country music.
Family was always important to Arun, and he enjoyed reminiscing with his sister and cousins, telling funny stories from childhood and remembering summers spent in India. Arun was an avid golfer, and attended Colts games (his favorite pro football team) and Pearl Jam concerts (his favorite band) with close friends.
Arun was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Dandappanavar & Mr. and Mrs. Kalappa, and father-in-law Howard Hosford.
Arun is survived by his devoted wife, Leighana Hosford Shankar, sons Logan and Keegan; his parents, Dan and Prema Shankar; sister, Sapna (Gavin) Kirkpatrick, nephew Syon & niece Isla Kirkpatrick; mother-in-law Linda Hosford, and many loving cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Arun was a long-time member of Dublin Baptist Church; in lieu of flowers, please send donations to Dublin Baptist Church Mission Fund, 7195 Coffman Rd, Dublin, OH 43017.
An hour of visitation will be held at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home in Clintonville on Friday, February 21, at 12pm, to be followed by a memorial service at 1pm. A private interment will be held on Saturday morning at Union Cemetery.
