Audrey Louise Flynn

Audrey Louise Oubre Flynn passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025, at St. Margaret's in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was 104 years old. Her passing fell on the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. It was a fitting reminder of the resilience and spirit she shared with the city she loved.

Audrey was born on January 5, 1921, in Reserve, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Lise and Walter Oubre. Her birth came just three years after the end of World War I. She graduated from the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in 1942 and went on to dedicate four decades of her life as a registered nurse at both Hotel Dieu (Head Nurse) and Baptist Hospital. After retiring, Audrey continued her lifelong commitment to service by volunteering at New Orleans City Hall for more than 30 years.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Dorothy and Millicent, and her brother Ivan. She is survived by her children, Michael Ivan Flynn (Lynn) and Barbara Ann Flynn; her grandchildren, Charlotte Lawrence (Andy), Michael Flynn Jr. (Savannah), and Leland Flynn; and her great-grandchildren, Andrew and William Lawrence. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Rita's Church, 2729 Lowerline St. in New Orleans on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to ARC of New Orleans, 925 S. Labarre Rd., Metairie, LA 70001.
