Sis. Audrey Woolfolk King was born on January 29, 1939, to the union of Austin Woolfolk and Leona Valley Woolfolk in Alexandria, LA. She departed this life on March 30, 2025, in New Orleans. Audrey was one of nine siblings, six girls and three boys. She was educated in Rapides Parish School System. She graduated from Peabody High School. She later attended Grambling State University where she earned a bachelors degree in Elementary Education. She was employed by Orleans Parish and Jefferson Parish School System for forty-six years. Audrey was a trailblazer. She was among the first class of teachers to integrate the Jefferson Parish School System. She attended Christian Bible College of Kenner, LA. Audrey was married to the late Earl Webb and from this union two daughters were born, Corlisa Webb, and Errolyn Marie Webb-Davis. She later married Lionel King and to this union one son was born, Lionel Craig King. Audrey was a member of The New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Little Zion Baptist Church of Kenner, LA, The Mount Zion Baptist Church, and during the pandemic she joined The Stronger Hope Baptist Church. Her guiding mantra was simple but profound: "To thine own self be true" and that she was in every word and deed. She was preceded in death by her parents Austin Woolfolk and Leona Valley Woolfolk, one brother Zera Hill, and two sisters, Ophelia Woolfolk Hobbs, and Emma Woolfolk Marve. She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Corlisa Webb and Errolyn Marie Webb-Davis (Rev. Hardy), one son Lionel Craig King (Adrienne), her grandchildren; Courtney Rapp Matthews, Lionel Austin King, and Aden Immanuel King, one great granddaughter Brianna Matthews. Audrey Woolfolk King lived a life defined by faith, purpose and grace. Her light touched generations, and her spirit will forever dwell in the hearts of all who knew her. We thank God for the gift of her life and the example she set. A woman of conviction, compassion and unshakeable truth. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, April 5, 2025, for 11:00 a.m. at Stronger Hope Baptist Church, 2401 South Galvez Street, New Orleans, LA 70125. A Tribute to Mrs. Audrey Webb King

To the family and friends of Mrs. Audrey Webb King,

Words cannot fully express the profound impact this remarkable woman had on the lives of those she taught. She was a true lady in every sense-composed, graceful, and always impeccably dressed.

I had the privilege of being one of her students in the 1960s and, years later, of sharing time in her company in the 2000s. Upon visiting her in her Grand Lake Estates home in Kenner, I saw her personality reflected throughout her dwelling-elegant, warm, and full of wisdom. Whether in a church setting or a social gathering, there was always a lesson to learn from her. Teaching was not just her profession; it was the essence of who she was.

Mrs. Audrey Webb King was more than a teacher. She was an example of true success-a mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, godmother, mentor, encourager, and life coach. She taught us to strive for excellence and reminded us that failure was never an option.

Errolyn, my sister, be strong. To Mrs. King´s other family members, cherish the values she instilled in you. I know I will. Thank you for sharing your beloved mother, your gift, with so many of us. Without her influence-and the strong foundation laid by our parents-many of us would not be who we are today.

I will be praying for you all as you navigate these difficult times. We are forever grateful for the teacher, the woman, and the legacy of Mrs. Audrey Webb King.

With love and deepest respect,
Elder Gardenia Landry Crockett
