Daxton Christopher Poindexter, 37, unexpectantly entered eternal rest on August 7, 2025. He was a native of New Orleans and son of the late Sylvia W. Poindexter, and the late Bryan Poindexter Sr. Daxton was an independent Artist with a lifelong love for his craft. He attended Jean Gordon Elementary and graduated from Alfred Lawless High School. Daxton's love for painting began at an early age, with one of his pieces being displayed in Children's Hospital of New Orleans. He later went on to win an art competition at the age of eight. Daxton's life was continually expressed through his in-depth thoughts about specific artifacts, and diverse cultures. While he did not travel the world, his art took him there. Daxton lives on through his numerous drawings and paintings. He is survived by his siblings Danielle Poindexter (Lamont) and Bryan Poindexter Jr. and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, a nephew, cousins, and godparents. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, August 23, 2025, for 10:00 a.m. at Watson Memorial Teaching Ministries, 4400 St. Charles Ave., New Orleans, LA 70115. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Funeral officiated by Bishop Tom Watson. Services provided by Donavin D. Boyd and Linear Brooks Boyd Owners/Funeral Directors.
