Lucinda Monroe was born on April 1, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She transitioned from her earthly life on Monday, September 22, 2025. Lucinda was educated in the New Orleans Public School System, attending McDonogh 38, Edgar P. Harney, and Booker T. Washington High School. Lucinda was employed and worked as a cook at the New Orleans Fairgrounds. Her faith journey began as a member of Mount Everest Baptist Church in New Orleans and St. John Divine Baptist Church where she served as an Usher. Later, she became a devoted member of Beacon Light International Ministries, where she was baptized and known as Sister Monroe. Upon joining the Family of Light, she quickly became involved in service, beginning as an Usher, serving as a Greeter and with the Hospitality Ministry. Her joy was displayed every time her daughter Sharline would serve alongside her. Preceded in death by her mother, Dorthy Smith Monroe; siblings Geniva Monroe, James Monroe, (Dawud Yamini) David Monroe, Floyd Monroe, and Johnny Givens; her sons, Brian K. Monroe, Mack Fred Monroe; daughter, Sharline A. Monroe-Smith; and grandson, Aaron A. Smith Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory: Sandraella M. Bailey (Harold Jr.), Gwendolyn Monroe-Johnson (Willie), Willie Monroe (Nadia), Norma Monroe-Snowton (James), Gregory Monroe (Jessica), and Remonda Monroe-Johnson (Quincy); one sister-in-law, Donna Yamini; 28 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Family and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Friday, October 10, 2025, for 1:30 p.m. at The Boyd Family Funeral Home, 5001 Chef Menteur Hwy., New Orleans, LA 70126. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Bishop Darryl S. Brister, officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Guestbook Online: www.anewtraditionbegins.com (504) 282-0600. Donavin D.
