Rev. Audrey St. Mark

Rev. Audrey (Rayner) St. Mark,81, passed away on June 17, 2024 at Utica Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Utica, NY.
Audrey was born in Worcester, the eldest daughter of E. Harvey Rayner and Edith (Hazen) Rayner. She received her degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
She worked as a reporter for The Worcester Telegram & Gazette and The New York Times and was a paralegal for a New York City law firm before teaching in the New York City Public School System for over twenty years. In her retirement, she became an ordained minister in the Episcopal church and her primary focus was ministering to prisoners.
Animals and nature were two of her passions. Her beloved dog, Gemma, accompanied her walking everywhere after she stopped driving. Audrey was a published poet and an avid outdoorswoman.
Audrey is survived by her sister Carolyn "Candy" (Mrs. Michael) Short of Wisconsin and her sister Janice L. Rayner of Worcester. She was predeceased by her brother Lawrence H. Rayner. She is also survived by her niece and guardian, Beth Rayner-Zyskowski of Milford, her nephews Lawrence Rayner of Melbourne, FL, Jordan Short and Saju Short of Wisconsin, and her nieces Laurie Rochelle of Florida, Kari (Short) Aaron of Michigan and April Short of Wisconsin.
Audrey's family would like to thank the staff at Utica Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the wonderful care she received there and Audrey's friend Ed Rauer for his many kindnesses that enabled her to stay in her home for as long as she did.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 10-11AM in the BUMA-SARGEANT FUNERAL HOME, 42 Congress Street, Milford followed by memorial service at 11AM in the funeral home.
