August James Lege Sr.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Matthews Funeral Home in Lake Arthur for August James Legé, 82, who passed away on January 3, 2025.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 9:00 am until the time of service at Matthews Funeral Home in Lake Arthur.
Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Lake Arthur following the service.
August James Legé, Sr. was born in Gueydan on September 15, 1942, to August Legé and Helen Trahan Legé. He was called to his Heavenly Father on January 3, 2025. August dedicated his life to taking care of his family from the young age of 16. He loved to weld BBQ pits, garden, and tend to his chickens and sheep. He also enjoyed playing the harmonica. August was a kind and loving man; he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
August is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virgie Hickman Legé; his two daughters, Virginia Legé of Jennings, LA and Sarah Legé (Jeffery) of Lake Arthur, LA; his son, August James Legé, Jr. (Margo) of Iota, LA; his three sisters, Helen Faulk of Erath, LA, Sally Hargrave (Gary) of Kaplan, LA and Bernice Viator of Estherwood, LA; his two brothers, Lucien "L.J." Legé (Judy) and Robert "Paul" Legé, both of Morse, LA; his four granddaughters, Glia Legé (Scot) of Evangeline, LA, Megan Legé (Brady) of Jennings, LA, Sophi Legé, and Maci Legé of Iota, LA; his six grandsons, Josh Moring (Meagan) of Carencro, LA, Scotty Moring (Summer) of Sulphur, LA, Wesley Moring (Tina) of Rayne, LA, Jean Luke Smith (Maria) of Lyons Point, LA, Jalen and Jaden Crochet, both of Jennings, LA; as well as numerous great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way.
August now rests in Heaven with his parents, August and Helen Legé; his brothers, Ronald "Boo" Legé and Rodney Legé; his sister, Mary Legé Monceaux; as well as his two daughters, June Legé Moring and Shannon Legé.
