Ava June Carlin

Funeral services for Ava June Carlin, 83, of Lima, Ohio, will be Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at Cuba Church of God with Rev. Ed Tatum officiating. Visitation will be at the church two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Clay Memorial Cemetery in Cuba, Alabama.
Mrs. Carlin passed away December 2, 2021, in Lima, Ohio. She was born June 26, 1938, in Cuba, Alabama, to Jesse Cleveland Hearne and Myrtis Dees Hearne. She graduated from Bayou La Batre Alabama High School and was a homemaker and a caregiver.
Mrs. Ava June was a loving, compassionate woman whose love for others was evident in all that she did. She worked as a caregiver at Sumter Health & Rehabilitation for many years and was also the office manager for Dr. Walton. She retired from Kimberly Care in Davenport, Iowa, where she cared for Alzheimer's patients. She is going to be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Ava Morphis of Churubusco, IN; Emily Pancost (Mike) of Boney Lank, WA; James "Jimmy" Massengill (Crystal) of Lima, OH; Jesse Massengill of Rock Island, IL; Timothy Massengill of Mobile; and Jay Phillip Massengill (Brianna) of Quincey, OH; step children, Anna Mason (Chris) of Auburn, IN; and Michael "Mike" Carlin, Jr. of Churubusco, IN; sisters, Ann Radcliffe of Meridian, MS; Geraldine Stokes of Cuba; and Dot Mason (Wayne) of Lauderdale, MS; 28 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jesse Cleveland and Myrtis Hearne; her husband, Mike Carlin; and brother, David Hearne; and sisters, Evangeline Rebel and Dollye Brown.
