B. Cecil Hubbard

B. Cecil Hubbard was born on September 13, 1943 and went to heaven on August 14, 2025 while at home, surrounded by his loving wife, children, and grandchildren. He was 81. Cecil was born on a coffee table in his parents' home in Helena, Alabama, where he lived his entire life. He grew up working on the farm alongside his father, and spent his childhood surrounded by a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins who all lived within walking distance of his family home. Cecil had several interesting jobs over his lifetime, including farming, welding boxcars together, building houses, and strip-mining, before finally retiring from maintenance at UAB in 2005. Cecil never met a stranger and was strong in his opinions. He loved his family and friends, a hard day's work, corny jokes, his cows, garden, and chickens, and anything and everything sweet - especially ice cream. He was not a fan of cheese, being cold, laziness, snow (really just winter in general), or when his grandchildren (accidentally!) tore up farm equipment. Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, Barber and Neoma Hubbard, and his beloved sister, Betty Paulk. Cecil is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Ann Hubbard; his daughter, Lisa Wallin, and two sons, Shane and Dale Ray, and their respective spouses; ten grandchildren and their respective spouses; and nine great-grandchildren, with three more on the way.
