Barbara E. Barton went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 20, 2025. She passed peacefully at her home, surrounded by love and the gentle presence of God's grace.
Born in New Castle on August 21, 1935, Barbara was the daughter of the late Harry and Marie Smith Barton.
In her younger years, Barbara served as a missionary, and was known for her strong work ethic and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Among the joys in her life, other than blasting KDKA radio at the highest volume, few brought her as much happiness as the simple pleasure of getting into her little red car each week and heading to Wampum to spend time with her family. Those weekly visits filled her heart and theirs with a precious bond and memories. In her later years, as life brought changes, she found joy in visits at her home but leaned especially on her beloved Diana, Tanya & Barbie.
She was known to most as "Aunt Barb" and was proud to be not only an aunt, but also a great-aunt, great-great aunt and even a great-great-great aunt. She treasured and found joy in watching the generations grow.
We all can agree that she was frugal in the best sense of the word - able to stretch a dollar further than anyone, yet generous with her time. She leaves this world and our hearts with a great loss, but we find comfort in the many memories that will last us a lifetime.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Harry and Frank Barton and two sisters, Matilda L. Mitchell and Nancy Bintrim.
A Graveside Service was held by Rev. Richard Nero, followed by the burial at Oak Park Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
In lieu of flowers, please honor her memory by spreading kindness wherever you can - lend a helping hand, check on a neighbor, or simply share a smile with someone who needs it.
