Barbara Jean (Seibert) Card, 89, of Dumont, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Franklin Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton. Woodley Funeral Home of Dumont is caring for Barb and her family.
Barbara was born on August 20, 1935, to Edwin & June (Harper) Seibert at Aredale, Iowa, and graduated from Dumont Community School in 1953. She married Robert Card on September 4, 1953, at Salem Evangelical Church in Dumont, Iowa. They have two children, Debra and Rick. She and Bob celebrated their 71st anniversary in 2024.
Following graduation, Barb worked at Bell Telephone in Hampton as a switchboard operator followed by working for Dr. Sandvig, DDS in Hampton. She was a bookkeeper for BJ Electric and a secretary at Dumont Telephone Company for 28 years, retiring in 1996.
Barb was a member of the Aredale New Hope United Methodist Church and spent many years chairing the service committee. She was a girl scout leader and a member of the Rebecca Lodge.
Barb enjoyed spending winters in Florida. She also enjoyed hand quilting and made sure each of her grandchildren received a keepsake quilt. Barb also shared her talents with MercyOne North Iowa gift shop by hand embroidering dish towels for sale in the shop. And she loved spending time with family and friends.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 71 years, Robert Card, daughter Deb (Mark) Gerdes, son Rick (Deb) Card, grandchildren Jodi (Harv) Demuth, Maggie (Mike) Gerdes, Amanda (Micah) Spahn, Whitney (Robert) Cluck, and great grandchildren Bryce & Marryn, Ella & Ava, Cooper & Beckett, Kynzleigh & Jace & Axton, foreign exchange daughter Pirjo (Juha) Saarinen and their children Viljami & Karita (Ville), and great grandchildren Jerry & Rosie, brother Duane Seibert, sister-in-law Phyllis Card, and sister-in-law Judy (Jim) Eide plus many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law Mary Lou Seibert, mother- and father-in-law Kathryn and Chester Card, and brothers- and sisters-in-law Dallas (LaVonne) Card, Clifton (Henrietta) Card, Don (Agnes) Card, and Toot Card.
The family would like to say a sincere and profound thank you to Franklin Country View caregivers and MercyOne North Iowa Hospice for truly getting to know Barb and care for her.
