Barbara Robinette Dalme, age 82, passed away on December 2, 2024, in Lake Charles, LA. Born on January 12, 1942, Barbara dedicated much of her life to education and being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She graduated from Mansfield High School and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA receiving her degree in business and furthered her education by obtaining her teaching certification at McNeese State University. Barbara's entire teaching career was spent at Sulphur High School and her role as an FBLA Sponsor were marked by her passion for nurturing young minds.
Prior to becoming a teacher, she stayed at home to raise her daughters. She never missed a ballet recital or gymnastic meet. Barbara could always be found hosting the class Easter egg parties, making goodies and costumes or volunteering at their schools. Later in life, even though she was separated by the miles, she always found a way to support her grandchildren in all their endeavors.
Barbara was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church, where she spent many years volunteering her time teaching Sunday school and CCD. Her commitment to service was reflected in her active participation in Beta Sigma Phi sorority's charitable activities, including adopting families in need during the holidays.
Barbara's family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her husband, Charles (Greg) Dalme; daughters, Deborah (Mike) Walker of Montgomery, TX, and Cathy Cooper of Cypress, TX; grandchildren, Stephen Walker of Dallas, TX, Leah and Lauren Cooper of Cypress, TX; and sister, Carolyn (Jerry) Andrews of Mandeville, LA. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.C. "Pete" & Julia Robinette. A Celebration of Life will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA. on December 5, 2024, with visitation held from 12:00-2:00pm. Service will follow at 2:00pm. Gravesite burial will be at Consolata Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stephen Walker, Blake Andrews, Luke Andrews, Mike Walker, Billy Graham and Andy McLachlan.
A time of gathering will be Thursday, December 5, 2024, beginning at Noon and lasting until the funeral time of 2:00PM, at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA. 70605. The burial will be at Consolata Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Lake Charles, LA, honoring her commitment to her faith. Barbara's legacy as an educator, a loving family matriarch and being the spark at every gathering making them fun will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
