TARBORO, NC - Barbara Ayers Hale, a cherished member of the Scotland Neck community, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on November 8, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on July 26, 1963, in Scotland Neck, North Carolina, Barbara's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community.
A proud graduate of the last graduating class of Scotland Neck High School, Barbara went on to build a meaningful career as a Network Support Specialist for Trillium Health Resources. Her work was driven by a commitment to helping others, and she was known for her dedication and expertise.
Throughout her life, Barbara's heart was firmly rooted in her family. She shared 38 wonderful years with her beloved husband, Chris Allen Hale, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter and adventure. Barbara was a devoted mother to her sons, Robert and Michael, and took immense joy in watching them grow into the men they are today. Her granddaughters, Avery, Piper, and Aubrey, were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent shopping with her "grand-girls" or cheering them on at their events.
Barbara found joy in simple pleasures, whether it was cooking a delicious meal, collecting Hallmark Christmas ornaments, or relaxing on the beach during annual family vacations. Her presence was a blessing to all who knew her, and her warmth and kindness will be deeply missed.
A dedicated member of Victory Praise and Worship Church in Scotland Neck, Barbara served faithfully as secretary and treasurer, embodying the spirit of service and community. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her through all of life's challenges and triumphs.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Jefferson Ayers and Charlie Robert Ayers; her brother, Melvin Ayers; her sister, Lucy "Duck" Ayers Byrum; and her best friend and faithful canine companion, Sadie. She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her legacy: her husband, Chris; her sons, Robert and Michael, and Michael's wife Kayla; her granddaughters, Avery, Piper, and Aubrey; her brother, Robert "Bud" Ayers and his wife Cathy; her sisters, Ellen Mitchell and her husband Tom, and Virginia "Baby" Ayers Best and her husband Charles; and her sister-in-law, Helen Ayers.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes, Letchworth Chapel in Scotland Neck, North Carolina, with the Reverends Aubrey Spear and Dallas Gurganus officiating. Family and friends are invited to visit and share memories following the service at the same location.
Memorial donations may be made directly to Victory Praise and Worship Center, 23775 Highway 125, Scotland Neck, NC 27874, to honor Barbara's legacy and her commitment to her church community or online by clicking here.
