COOKEVILLE CHAPEL - Barbara Ann Halfacre, born on May 31, 1946, in Cookeville, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday July 2, 2025, at the Life Care Center of Sparta. Known for her sweet disposition and big heart, Barbara always prioritized others ahead of herself, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege to know her.
After dedicating 20 years as a library assistant at Park View Elementary School, Barbara touched the lives of countless children, fostering a love for reading and learning. Her professional dedication mirrored her personal passion for spending time with family and friends, particularly cherishing moments with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A true Hallmark movie fan, she found joy in the stories that celebrated love, friendship, and togetherness.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Rachel Tayse (Troy), and Sarah Jennings (Jason), who continue to carry forward her legacy of kindness and generosity. She was a proud grandmother to Haley McCulley (Tyler), David King (Hannah), Autumn Tayse, Austin Tayse, and Landon Jennings, and a great-grandmother to Carter and Oli McCulley, and Hallie King. She is also remembered by her sisters-in-law, Anita and Bobbie Gentry, and her special niece, Becky Asher along with many more nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Alphus Gentry and Pearl Randolph Gentry, her husband, Glenn Edward Halfacre, her siblings, Allon Gentry and Jack Gentry, her daughter Melissa Ann Halfacre, as well as her father and mother-in-law, Alvin and Hazel Halfacre.
A graveside service to honor Barbara’s memory will be held on Saturday July 5 at 10:00am at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Pastor Justin Randolph and Dr. Jason Groe will officiate.

The family expresses special thanks to the staff at the Life Care Center of Sparta for the compassionate care provided to Barbara in her final days. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her warmth, love, and unwavering spirit.
