Barbara Rae Hamer. Age 72 of Rockwood. Passed away April 14, 2022. Beloved wife of Robert for 33 years. Loving mother of Robert Ethan (Cham) Allen, Kevin Allen and Jason (April) Allen. Proud grandma of Sadie (Keegan) Everson. Great grandma of Marley and Avery. Dear sister of Janet Horsley, Karen Coil, Ross (Diane) Thomson, Scott (Karen) Thomson, Kathy (Glenn) Knight, David Thomson and John Thomson. Dearest niece of David Thomson. Survived also by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by parents John and Dorothy Thomson.
Barbara loved her family, first and foremost. Nothing ever mattered more. Her grand babies made her whole. There wasn't a single event that Barb ever missed. And you'd be damned if you didn't invite her. High school graduations, military homecomings, weddings. showers, birthdays. She never missed a moment. Barb was the centerpiece of our milestones. She took care of us all and was our biggest cheerleader. The family reunion, the celebration of the year, Barb and her sisters planned the event every single year with pride & happiness. Holidays became the memories they are today because of her commitment to the celebration. Today her house sits filled with bunnies and eggs and baskets, ready to spend Easter Sunday with her family. Christmas was a entire event in itself. The decorations, oh the decorations. A Christmas winter wonderland Barb made of her house every year. Year after year. And she loved every moment. Holidays were a part of her. She made them so meaningful that holidays will never be the same without her.
She loved being the big sister. A title she didn't take lightly. Taking care of her brothers and sisters was something she lived for. Being best of friends with her sisters Janet, Karen & Kathy. Their yearly sister trips were one of a kind and something she looked forward to every year. Her brothers lit up her world. Scott, Ross and David, they looked up to her as their big sister but also mother, as she took on that role for them as well after their mother Dorothy passed.
Barb was the mother everyone dreamed of having. Loving her sons; Robert, Kevin & Jason. They gave her life and created a happiness she never took for granted. Jason giving her the first and only granddaughter, Sadie. Boy did she love her. Sadie and Barb held an unbreakable bond. A grandmother that turned into a best friend. The memories are a treasure that Sadie will always have. Becoming a great grandmother to Marley & Avery, two precious grandchildren she wanted to give the world to. She was also blessed with bonus grand babies, Camden, Eliana & Carson.
She always made sure you had a special place in her world, no matter who you were or what your story was. She loved her family near & far. Being the great niece of our Big Uncle Dave who she loved with a very large part of her heart.
Married to Uncle Bob for a happy 33 years. You never saw one without the other. Never missing a beat with family events, Uncle Bob surely knew he was being taken along for the ride, no matter if it was his choice or not. They were a team, a rock solid companionship.
There are not words we can truly find to describe our life with Barb. But we do know that there will forever be an emptiness where she will be forever missed.
To love her was a blessing. To know her was a blessing. Having Barb in your life made your days better. We love you, we miss you so much already, you are loved to infinity. Rest In Peace Barb. We hope you are cracking ice cold Diet Pepsi's with mom & dad.
