Barbara Ann "Barb" Harden

Barbara "Barb" Ann Harden, 91, of Dixon, IL, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Morningside of Sterling, in Sterling, IL. She worked as a Secretary of Engineering for Raynor Garage Doors for 20 years, retiring in 1998.
Barb was born on October 7, 1933, in Dixon, the daughter of Kenneth and Helen (Sanders) Bovey. She married Donald "Don" Harden on October 4, 1968, in Dixon. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2021. Barb was an active member of New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling, IL. She enjoyed yard work and tending to her flowers, puzzles, playing dominos, and Mexican Train. Barb also enjoyed playing card games with family and many friends she met on annual RV trips through Arizona and Colorado. She also loved to go shopping with her sister and could be found once a week getting a piece of pie together in Franklin Grove.
Barb is survived by her sons, Michael (Lisa) Smith, Steven Smith; relative, Richard (Brenda) Schupp; brother, Neil Bovey; sister, Suzanne Crossland; grandchildren, Danielle (Matthew) Grobe, Marissa (Matthew) Cullen, Josh Smith, Jake Smith, and two other granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Helen Bovey; her husband, Don Harden; son, Doug Smith; sister, Carol (Jimmy) Jackley; and brother, Ross (Katherine) Bovey.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling, with Pastors Drew Williams & Phil Gronbach, co-officiating. There will be a Luncheon at the church to follow the service, with Burial of Cremated Remains to follow the lunch at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for the purchase of a memorial bench and/or St. Jude's.
