Barbara Ann Knight Hawkins was born, on February 17, 1953, to Johnnie and Essie B. Knight in Clio, Alabama. Barbara Ann moved to Fort Myers, Florida with her family at 6 months of age. Barbara Ann attended Lee County Schools and graduated from Cypress Lake High School, Class of '71'. Barbara Ann worked at Ocie Daycare Center as a childcare provider, Precision as a coil factory worker, and retired from the School District of Lee County as an ESE Paraprofessional in 2018. Barbara Ann met and married the love of her life, Larry Hawkins in 1971, and shared 50 beautiful years of marriage. To the union, four wonderful children were created. Larry Jr, Bernie Lynn, Princess Ann, and Porshae LaTise Hawkins. Barbara Ann passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love on February 26, 2025. Barbara Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Essie B Knight, her husband Larry Hawkins Sr., her sons, Larry Jr. and Bernie Lynn, her paternal grandparents, Eddie and Mary Liza Knight, her maternal grandparents, Lovett and Barbara McLeod, her uncles Willie Knight, Harrison Knight, James Knight, RB Knight, Bonnie C McLeod, Wardell McLeod, Marvel McLeod, her aunts Tiny Brock, Hester Jackson, Lovie Glenn, Cathie Mae McNear, and Mae Jewel Rice. Barbara Ann leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Princess Ann and Porshae LaTise Hawkins. Her brothers, Johnny Knight (Joann), Barney Knight (Frankie), Bobby J. Knight (Tiffhan), and Eddie Knight (Joyce). Her sisters, Mary Zigler, Mae Jewel Townsend, Patricia Sapp, Ocie Harrison, Annie Bates (Fred), and Alfreda Allen (Mickey). Her brother and sisters-in-law are Mamie White, Tommie Hawkins (Elizabeth), James Hawkins (Eunice), and Johnny Hawkins (Ruby). Her paternal aunts, Religion Grice (Washington) and Kuclve Duncan (James). a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Barbara Ann leaves behind her honorary grandchildren, Javian McCollum, Jalah Scurry, and Vanier Baptiste III, and bonus sons, Ricky McCray and Vanier Baptiste Jr. Her grand dogs, Roxy and Pumpkin (who proceeded her in death).
