Barbara F. Heermance

Barbara F. Heermance, 88, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, at Vassar Bros. Hospital in

Poughkeepsie, NY, following a brief illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Hyde Park, NY. A graduate of FD Roosevelt High School, she worked in various

secretarial and managerial roles with the Town of Hyde Park Zoning Board, the Town of Hyde Park Tax

Assessor, and IBM Poughkeepsie.

Barbara had a sharp mind and was a true lifelong learner. For over twenty years after her retirement she

enjoyed taking courses at Dutchess Community College and the Marist College Center for Lifetime Study.

She was deeply devoted to her family and took great joy in the simple and meaningful pursuits of life. She

was an avid tennis player, a dedicated gardener, a pro-level yard sale treasure hunter, a terrific cook and

baker, and a fierce Scrabble competitor. She brought thoughtfulness, beauty, and quiet determination to

everything she did.

To those who knew her, Barbara was a stalwart friend and trusted confidante-someone whose wisdom,

loyalty, and steady presence were guaranteed.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Clyde (Pep); her daughter, Dawn; her son, Brian, and his

wife, Penny; her three grandsons: Bradley, Matthew, and Brendan; her brother-in-law, John; her niece, Beth;

and her nephews, David and Steven.

Barbara will be remembered for her boundless energy, her selflessness, and the deep love she shared so

generously with her family and friends.
