Barbara Leigh “Barb” Howell 63 of Neodesha, KS passed away Wednesday April 30, 2025, at her home in Neodesha, KS.
Barbara Leigh Hiatt was born September 26, 1961, in Neodesha, KS. The daughter of Kenneth Lynn and Bonnie Leigh Thompson Hiatt. Barb attended Neodesha school system and graduated in 1979 from Neodesha High School.
Barb attended and graduated from Independence Beauty College and started her profession as a beautician. Barb had a 40-year career as a beautician in Neodesha. Barb later worked for Wilson Medical Center cleaning family medical center offices and later worked for WA Rankin Memorial Library.
On June 25, 1983, Barb was united in marriage to Flint Lesley Howell in Neodesha, KS. Where Flint and Barb made their home for 42 years. In this union two daughters were born, Shayleigh Howell and Tanna Leann (Howell) Denney.
Barb loved visiting and talking to her friends, Barb loved her shopping trips with her daughters. Barb loved watching her Kansas City Chiefs every Sunday and attending Chiefs games at Chiefs Stadium several times. Barb was known as the Sunday afternoon coach for the Chiefs at Arrowhead South every Sunday, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren that was the part of her life, she loved the most.
Those left to cherish Barb’s memory are her loving husband Flint of the home, her daughters Shay Howell of Neodesha, KS and Tanna Denney and husband David of Altoona, KS. Four grandchildren Landon Howell and Lynnix Howell of Neodesha, KS and Kensleigh Denney and Kamry Denney of Altoona, KS. Barbs two brothers Chet Hiatt and wife Norma of Pittsburg, KS and Randy Hiatt and Cindy of Joplin, MO. Two nephews Brian Hiatt and Dan Sours, and two nieces Anna Bookless and Suzie Israel.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, May 16, 2025, at 4:00pm at Christ Church in Neodesha, KS.
Memorials can be made in Barb’s memory to AWOL of Independence, KS and can be left with Loran Fawcett Chapel in Neodesha, KS.
