Barbara Robbins Kiger, 76, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at her home in Lexington, NC, surrounded by her children. Her passing was a result of a 2.5-year battle with ALS.

She was born on April 15, 1949, in Forsyth County, NC, to the late William and Treva Robbins. She was a resident of Lexington, NC, for 49 years.

Barbara was a graduate of West Forsyth High School. She taught K3 and was a daycare worker for 25 years at Union Grove Christain School and was an active member of Union Grove Baptist Church for 50 years.

Barbara and her husband, David, retired in their mid-fifties, allowing them many years of travel. They took numerous bus trips with fellow church members where they played host and hostess to everyone on the bus.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband, David.

Surviving are her daughter, Shelia Strickland of Lexington, NC; son, David Kiger (Leanne) of Lexington, NC; 4 grandchildren, Justin Coggins (Hayley) of Lexington, NC, Kristina Piela (Matt) of King, NC, Jennifer Spensieri (Jon) of Matthews, NC, and Austin Jordan (Mikayla) of Westfield, NC; 3 great-grandchildren, Myles Spensieri, Riley Coggins, and Amelia Piela; along with 5 remaining siblings and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00PM at Union Grove Baptist Church in Lexington, NC, on Friday, May 9, 2025. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will immediately follow the service at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown, NC.
