Barbara Kay Mosteller Melton, age 67, of Gastonia went to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. She was born on January 24, 1956, in York County, SC to the late Bobby and Frances Kay Mosteller. Before retirement, Barbara worked at Gaston Screen Printing for 30 years. She was amazing all around, especially as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Barbara was the greatest wife a man could have. Like clockwork, she would always make her nightly calls to her children and grandchildren. Barbara had a special love for her family and loved cooking. During Christmas she would make a big spread for the family, which always included her mac & cheese. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Debra Greene.
Those left to cherish her memory include the love of her life for almost 54 years, her husband Stephen Melton; son Randy Melton (Jonie); daughter Gail Heffner (Steven); brothers Bobby Mosteller (Debbie) and Clarence Mosteller (Rebecca); sisters Loretta Jumper (Tony) and Patricia Cole (Mark); grandchildren Tyler Heffner, Shannah Mathis, Amber Spivey, and Brandon Melton; great-grandchildren Morgan Heffner, Jackson Crawford, and one on the way; along with a large number of friends and coworkers which will greatly miss Barbara but she will forever be in our hearts.
To celebrate Barbara’s life, the family will have a visitation on Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 1:30 pm – 2:45 pm at Sisk – Butler Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 3:00 pm with Pastor Chris Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont.
