Barbara J. Necessary

Barbara J. Necessary, age 83, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024 after a short illness, surrounded by family at her home.
Barbara was born in Muncie, Indiana on August 16, 1940, to Paul and Bertha Jenkinson. As a lifelong resident of Muncie, Barbara graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1958, and then Ball State Teacher's College (now Ball State University), where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Elementary Education. She loved developing young children's minds and taught for 36 years.
Barbara was happiest when she was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son David (Shari) Dickerson; grandchildren, Sara (Taylor) Mock, and Samantha Dickerson; step grandchildren, Kevin Nichols and Kaitlyn Nichols; and great grandchildren, Beckham Mock and Reagan Mock.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, James; parents, Paul and Bertha Jenkinson; and a brother, Robert Jenkinson.
Funeral Services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Mt. Pleasant Chapel, 7901 W. Isanogel Road, from 11:00 am until service time at Noon, on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Opportunity Center, 3700 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie, IN 47304.
