Barbara Nixon was born in Ypsilanti, MI on October 2, 1931, to Amos and Susie Berlin. She went to her heavenly home on April 1, 2025.
Barbara married her high school sweetheart, Richard Nixon, when she was 18 and he was 20. They were married for 69 years and were a beautiful example to many.
She was a very talented woman with many different hobbies throughout her lifetime. She was an expert cake decorator (including wedding cakes), learned calligraphy, raised Great Danes, made a variety of ceramics, worked with the youth and was a song leader at her church.
Barbara loved the Lord, her husband and family, and horseback riding. She treasured being a mom, grandma, and then a nana to her great grandchildren.
Preceding Barbara in death were her husband, Richard; her beloved son, Rick; her parents Amos and Susie Berlin; her siblings Clarence, Junior, and John Berlin, and Betty (Larry) Dahlberg who was not only her sister but her very best friend.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Kathy Nixon; three grandchildren, Seth (Tiffany) Nixon of Farmington, Erica (Jason) Yule of Katy, Texas, and Jared (Jennifer) Nixon of Farmington; six great grandchildren, Bryce Yule, Colter and Henry Nixon, and Natalie, Dominic, and Michael Nixon. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly and friends who will greatly miss her.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 12, at 10:00 am at Brewer, Lee, and Larkin Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Barbara, please visit our Tree Store.
