Carol Wayne Nixon passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025 in Sugar Land, Texas. Born October 9, 1946 in Menard County, Texas to parents Clayton and Rena Sue Nixon, Carol will be forever remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather to his two grandchildren. Carol was a man of deep faith who accepted Christ at the tender age of nine.
Mr. Nixon is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Linda Nixon, and a sister, Ann Nixon. Carol met his loving wife Linda while they both were on staff at Glorietta Baptist Assembly, and they married a year later in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They shared many wonderful years together until her passing in 2015.
Left behind to share his memories are his son, Greg Nixon; his daughter, Meredith Turner and her husband, Keith; two grandchildren, Tyler and Annabel Turner.
Carol Nixon loved life and his family. He enjoyed many hobbies, especially fishing and RV Camping. Square Dancing was also a big part of his life and, along with his wife Linda, served as President of the Houston Square and Round Dance Council. He and Linda shared many wonderful travel cruises that included Alaska, the Baltic and Caribbean Seas plus many others.
Carol was always tinkering with computers and later in life he developed a passion for photography which no doubt came in handy on those cruises and family gatherings. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he served the Spring Woods Baptist Church as a Deacon and Sunday School Director.
Carol earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University, and he retired as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) from the Texas Department of Transportation. He loved Aggie football and was a proud Aggie.
A visitation is planned for 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Tuesday September 9, 2025 at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with the interment following the service at the Woodlawn Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Carol Wayne Nixon will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
