James Emmett Hitt, 90, passed away peacefully at home in Bellville, TX on October 2, 2025.

Born on April 21, 1935 in Shelby County, Texas, James was an entrepreneur who founded his own metal fabrication and manufacturing firm, Cynco Specialty Inc., in 1980 and operated the business until 2020.

James is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Linda (nee Bowen.) He is survived by their three children – son Mark & his husband Wil, daughter Cynthia, and daughter Amanda & her husband Mike. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, granddaughters Jennifer and Kaitlyn, and grandsons David, Dontay, Hayden, and Ryan, along with a great-granddaughter, Azalea Brooke. He is also survived as well by his sister, Elizabeth Hodge, and her husband, Lewis of Tennessee.

A 1953 graduate of San Jacinto High School in Houston, James was an avid sports fan who enthusiastically rooted for the Houston Astros and his grandsons' high school football teams. After purchasing his Bellville property in 1990, he enjoyed escaping for the weekend to manage the farm and work with the cattle he raised there, until he joined the community members of Austin County fulltime in 2020. He was a proud member of the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, the Austin County Farm Bureau, and was a Golden Eagle NRA member.

A visitation and brief service is scheduled for Wednesday, October 8 at ten o'clock a.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 1101 Antoine Drive, Houston, Texas. Internment will immediately follow at eleven o'clock at Woodlawn Garden of Memories Cemetery.
