Barbara R. Pingel

Barbara R. Pingel, 82, of Beach Lake, died on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Wayne Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Frederick H. Pingel. The couple married on September 1, 1962.
Born on June 28, 1942 in Callicoon, NY, she was the daughter of the late Malvin and Ruth (Wheelock) Turner. For over 30 years, Barbara was a medical assistant at Women's Health in Honesdale before retiring.
An avid bowler, she enjoyed playing in leagues throughout the area with her friend Judy Mohn. On Tuesday afternoons, she could be found playing cards with her friends, Opal Hocker and Shirley Kerber. She was known for her "green thumb" and her beautiful flower gardens and tomato plants. Barbara loved her summer trips to Long Beach Island, NJ. At home she loved spending her summers with her family and friends at Barkley Lake swimming and relaxing with Elizabeth Moor.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Andrea Pingel of Beach Lake; her son, Lee Pingel and wife Marta of Beach Lake; her grandchildren, Logan Pingel and Bridget Pingel, Emma Pingel McLaughlin and her husband Reed and Ellie Pingel; great grandchildren, Noah Pingel, Charlie McLaughlin and Boone Pingel. And her godchildren; Randy Mohn, Lori Mohn, Tim Mohn, and Billy Mohn.
Barbara's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Wayne Memorial Hospital and Hospice for their exceptional care.
