Barbara Sue Collins was born in Worth County, GA, Sept. 24, 1945. She lived in Worth County for all of her life and was a devoted wife, homemaker, and mother.
Her parents Anna Lee Powell Collins and Robert Heywood Collins, both of Worth County, predeceased her several years ago – she lost her mother at age 14.
She grew up in a house full of beautiful girls who blossomed into lovely ladies, which included her sisters: Patricia, Genese, Sylvia and Gail.
Barbara Sue was married to Hubert Wood of Tifton for 37 years. The fruit of this marriage was two daughters, who were often called "twins": Leshia (Matt) Mullis, of Tift County, and Rhonda (Tommy) Sumner, of Worth County. Barbara is survived by 6 grandchildren: Taylor (Allison) Sumner, Henry (Jennifer) Sumner, & Evan ( Heather) Sumner; Audriana Sattler, Heather Sattler, & Rachel Sattler; and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Sylvia. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia Cox, Genese Hogan, and Gail Souter, her cousin and dearest friend, Mary Ruth Willis, and her grandson, Adam Thomas Sattler.
Barbara Sue married Glenn Felton Piper of Poulan in 2010. Glenn served as a Church of God pastor at his family's church in Poulan for many years. Glenn passed earlier this year after 15 years of marriage to Barbara leaving her a widow.
Barbara Sue was a lady who loved beauty, whether it was decorating, arranging flowers, collecting antique china pieces, or selecting art. Barbara was also a prayer warrior. She would devotedly seek the Lord and His will for situations in the world as well as those closest to her. She was saved and baptized at Pine Hill Baptist Church as a teenager and kept a relationship with Christ throughout her lifetime.
There will be a private graveside service for her internment to be announced later for family members only. Thank you and may Barbara rest in peace.
