Barbara Louise Probus, 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on November 9, 2025. She was born on January 27, 1941, in Louisville to the late Joseph "Doc" Probus and Dora Beatrice Bell Probus.
Barbara was a devoted and longtime supervisor at the American Printing House for the Blind in Louisville, where she dedicated many years of service to improving the lives of others through her careful work and kind leadership.
A woman of deep faith, Barbara was a faithful attendee of Wellman Wesleyan Church. She was a graduate of God's Bible School and College in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she developed a lifelong love for learning and ministry.
Barbara will be remembered for her generous, giving, and gentle spirit. She loved her family deeply and cherished time spent with her nieces and nephews-Laura Humbert, Steve Henry (Geneva), Robert Henry (Holly), Dora Gary (Tom), Barbara Kay Ranney-and many more nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved siblings, Thelma Probus Henry, Mary Probus Watson, Herbert Probus, Joseph Probus, Carl Probus, and David Probus; her nieces and nephews, John Joseph Henry, Jerry Lahmann Henry, Lisa Jo Henry Jones and many more nieces and nephews.
Barbara enjoyed many simple joys in life: cooking delicious meals, going out to eat (especially for oysters), camping, and traveling in her motor home. She and her sister shared countless shopping adventures, often "gone until dark-thirty." Her faithful black poodle, Buddie, was her constant companion and dear friend.
Those who knew Barbara will remember her quiet strength, her warm heart, and her unwavering love for her family, her faith, and her community.
There will not be a funeral service for Barbara. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lion's Club or The Parkinson's Foundation in her memory.
