Barbara Jean Reid (Phillips), age 85 of Canton, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Harris Senior Living in Roswell, Georgia. Mrs. Reid is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Reid of Canton, Georgia; son, Norman Kenneth Reid (and wife, Krista) of Talking Rock, Georgia; Daughter, Nancy Hazel Green (and husband, Stan) of Duluth, Georgia; sister, Ruth Hayes of Hartwell, Georgia; five grandchildren (Tyler Green, Travis and Meredith Green, Tucker and Melanie Green, Brandon Reid, and Jessica Reid); and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Novis Phillips from Hartwell, Georgia and her siblings Edna Hutcheson, Clara Bell Wilson, Elizabeth Phillips, Inman Phillips, Matt Phillips and Virgil Phillips from Hartwell and Atlanta, Georgia and Anderson, South Carolina area . Mrs. Reid was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family, and travelling with her husband over their 65 years of marriage. She was a life-long member of Hickory Road Baptist Church in Holly Springs. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Darby Funeral Home in Canton, Georgia. Funeral services in honor and celebration of Mrs. Reid's life will follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Darby Funeral Home. Internment will take place at Georgia National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Reid's family has requested that donations be made to either Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her memory.
