Barbara Anne Sanchez Navarro, born on March 19th 1958, in Phoenix, AZ was given her angel wings on May 2nd, 2025. She was a dedicated wife to her husband Gerry for 32 years and a loving mother to her daughters Bianca, Cassaundra, and Nicole who survive her. She was also an incredible sister to her siblings and survived by sisters Dorothy, Cathy, Patricia, and brother Adam. She was predeceased by her brother Marcus, mother Emma, and her father Carlos.
Barbara was the life of the party everywhere she went and could become friends with anyone. She was witty, charming, and shined a light for those who had the privilege of knowing her. She touched the lives of many during her time. She brought warmth, love, and laughter to many of her friends and family. Most of her friendships lasted over 40 years.
She attended St. Matthews Grammar School and then Carl Hayden High School, class of 1976. After graduating, she went on to Phoenix College and completed her education at Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business.
Even though she worked her whole life to pursue a career, once she had her children, she decided to be a stay-at-home mother for 13 years. This allowed her to instill and teach her daughters on how to be strongminded and independent women. She was also able to guide her girls on how to have unwavering faith in God.
Once her children were older, Barbara decided to develop a career as an educator. She was a passionate teacher to her students at Peoria High School for over 10 years where she taught culinary. She retired in 2022 and then started her career as a well-renowned traveler with her husband Gerry.
The two spent years traveling the country and world together while making friends along the way. Her dream destination to visit was Italy, which they got to visit in 2024. She had a young spirit that appreciated being able to explore and create memories. She loved traveling with her husband but also went on many “girl’s trips” with her sisters and friends and plenty of family vacations including her daughters.
In between endeavors, she was focused on her family and continued to be the loving light she was to her husband, children, sisters and friends. Barbara touched the hearts of so many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Barbara’s services will be held on Thursday, May 15, at St. Agnes Church on 24th street and McDowell. Address is 1954 N 24th St. Phoenix, AZ 85008. Rosary at 9:30am. Mass will be at 10am and her Celebration of Life will be following until 3pm.
