Barbara Jean Scott (Olsson) passed away after a battle with cancer on Friday, December 20th, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born in Woodbury, New Jersey, but lived a large portion of her life in Wilmington, Delaware. Barb attended Glouster High School, where she played field hockey and basketball. She was voted Most Athletic in her graduating class.

While living in Delaware, Barb worked as a loan clerk in the stocks and bonds section of the DuPont Company. She also worked part time as a security officer for Strawbridge and Clothier department store, helping to catch shoplifters. For fun, she enjoyed going camping with her family, and arts and crafts. Barb served a full Thanksgiving turkey dinner in the woods more than once! She made beautiful pine cone wreaths and ceramic Christmas trees, and was accomplished at sewing and quilting, as well. She was so talented that she made a Christening gown worn by several members of her family, and once made a quilt from horse show ribbons. She also volunteered for Project Linus making blankets for kids in need.

Both retired, in 2006 Barb and her husband, Ed moved to Simpsonville, Kentucky to be near their only child, Tracy. She became involved in the Kentucky Extension Homemakers, and The Ladybug Quilters. She also sewed projects with The Simpsonville Methodist Church for Mountain Mission. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her husband, and daughter. She loved feeding the deer and wild turkey in her backyard. Although her own life was very hard at times, Barb always maintained an inner joy. She was generous to a fault, and nothing pleased her more than to do something that made someone else happy. She was just a fun person to be around. Quick with a smile or laugh, she had also a tenacious work ethic, and always put her needs behind others. Most of all, she loved her family.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Anton Olsson, her step-mother, Eleanor Olsson, her adored brother, Tommy Olsson, and her sister, Lois Olsson.

She is survived by her loving husband, Edward D, Scott, her grateful daughter, Tracy L. Scott, her nieces, Cindy Seipp, and Sandy Ginotti, and their families. She loved them all so much.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made in Barb's honor to the Project Linus ( https://www.projectlinus.org/donate.php ) or to the Kentucky Humane Society ( https://www.kyhumane.org/donate/?utm_medium=grant&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=dd) .

Newcomer Cremations, Receptions, and Funerals, east chapel, 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville KY, 40243, is entrusted with her arrangements.
