Barbara Sindlinger, 92, of Cary, North Carolina passed away Saturday, 12/31/2022. She was born in New York City to Susan and Peter Cimini. Barbara lived a faith filled life. Her strong belief in God was evident through the love, kindness and service she shared with her family, friends and community.
Barbara is survived by a large and loving family: her younger brother, Peter Dan Cimini, Karen Rives, Georgeanne and Steven Krieg, Adrienne Golub, Stephen and Carla Rives, Debra Park, Suzanne Rives, Lisa and Paul Salerno, Peter and Eileen Rives, and Alison and Benedict Zuaro. She leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her sister Frances Fasano, her brother Leopold James Cimini and her loving husband of 30 years, Robert Sindlinger.
Barbara did not let her physical challenges prevent her from contributing to the lives of so many. She shared her talents by knitting baby blankets and creating memorable ceramic touchstones for the community. Barbara shared her time with New Bern seniors by running errands for them, driving them to stores and church, and volunteering at the senior pharmacy. She served the disadvantaged New Bern community by working in the town's soup kitchen.
Barbara served others as a Eucharistic Homebound Minister and said the Divine Mercy for those sick or dying. She initiated the practice of the Fatima Rosary on the 13th of each month with her New Bern and Cary prayer groups. Others carry on this legacy today.
Before retiring in New Bern with Bob, Barbara was a respected corrections officer in Nassau County, New York where she rose to the rank of Captain. She was known as being tough but fair and established a reputation for supporting children going through the family court system. For too many children caught up in the system, Barbara's interest in their cases represented the first time they experienced true kindness.

Barbara was a fabulous example of a devoted Catholic Charismatic Christian. She served those around her and when she couldn't serve, her prayers went up for any situation. She was a good friend who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is now being rewarded for her obedience and faithfulness. May we follow her example.
Condolences to every member of her family, especially Suzanne, who is also a friend.
