Barbara Jean Smith of Wilbraham passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 3rd, 1939, Barbara was the cherished middle child of Herman and Pearl Parrott, with sisters she adored, Ginny (Connecticut) and Beverly (New York).
Barbara was the beloved wife of Richard J. Smith, with whom she shared a beautiful life until his passing in 2017. Even after his death, she spoke to him daily, firmly believing he was still by her side. Her positive outlook and warm spirit were captured in her favorite sayings, "Think positive" and "Did I get my hug I'm a hugger."
She is survived by her devoted children and grandchildren: her daughter Diane Nagy (Stephen); her sons Darren (Laura), Jeffrey (Shelley), and Rick (Christine); her ten adored grandchildren; and her sister Virginia Ballou of Enfield, Connecticut and her loving care provider for the last 7 years, Barbara Tham.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Wilbraham Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Barbara's name to Shriners Children's Hospital, located at 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA, 01104. Contributions can also be made online at LoveToTheRescue.Org.
