Barbara Smith Obituary

Born in Lafayette on March 7, 1948, she was the daughter of Charles and Edith Royal. Barbara lived a vibrant and adventurous life, moving across the country and calling California, Texas, Ohio, and Michigan home before returning to Indiana. She had a deep love for Alaska, which she often referred to as her favorite place in the world.
Barbara had many roles throughout her life, including working as a beautician after graduating from Lafayette Beauty College and spending time as a homemaker. She also owned and operated BJ's Downtown Lounge in Effingham, IL for eight years.
She is survived by her son, Stuart "Jami" Smith; her grandchildren, Jaxson Smith, Hannah (Robert) Pippenger; and her great grandson, Asher Pippenger.
She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Wayland, and her sister, Sheri Ellen.
In honor of Barbara's memory, her family invites you to raise a Miller Lite in her name, hug your fur babies, donate to an animal shelter, help a neighbor, or plant a tree.
