Born on October 20, 1944, to George and Lillian Hardebeck, Robert grew up in Fowler, Indiana, and graduated from Fowler High School in 1962. He proudly served six years in the National Guard and was a longtime member of both the American Legion and 40 and 8. On October 4, 1969, he married the love of his life, Ann Lanie, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who found his greatest joy in time spent with family.
He enjoyed staying active and spending time outdoors, whether golfing, bowling, working in the yard, or grilling out with family and friends. He and Ann also shared a love of travel, taking several trips and cruises together throughout the years. A dedicated member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Robert's faith was an important part of his life.
Robert retired from Aramark in 2006, allowing him more time to focus on the things he loved most-his family, his faith, and his hobbies.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ann Hardebeck; his daughter, Robin (George Farrell); his grandchildren, Ashlee (Ruby Henderson), Hannah (Connor Smith), Logan Farrell (Olivia), Ava (companion Nathan), Quinton (fiancé Ashley), Lillie, and Eli; and his great-grandchildren, Landon, Kynlee, Chloe, Sadie, Hudson, and Shepherd. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lillian Hardebeck, and his brother, Anthony Hardebeck.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Guardian Angels Hospice, all of Robert's caregivers, and a special thanks to Chrystal Donnelley for her exceptional care and kindness.
A Celebration of Robert's Life will be planned for the near future.
