Barbara Jean Stephens was born November 6, 1944, in Prichard Alabama. She was the 3rd of 9 children born to Willian L. Davis and Juanita Davis.

On Sunday August 17, 2025, 5:20 pm, Barbra was called home to rest with her eternal family. Her brother Willie C. Davis, Son Averic R. Kelly, father, William L. Davis and mother, Juanita Davis.

Born with a heart full of compassion and a soul that radiated warmth, Barbra devoted her life to nurturing others. She was the cherished wife of Cornelius Stephens, whose love story with Barbra was one of enduring devotion and quiet strength. Together, they built a life rooted in kindness, laughter, and unwavering support.

Barbara was a devoted mother to her daughter, Andrea Bankes-Collin, never forgotten son, Averic Ray Kelly, Denise Cornette and grandchildren: Edward Kelly, Skyler Cornette, Kelly Vincetta Schlottmann as well as 3 great-grandchildren whose life she enriched with wisdom, grace, and unconditional love. Their bond was one of deep understanding and shared joy-a connection that will continue to echo in every memory and moment.

Barbara is also remembered fondly by her siblings: Earl Davis, John Davis, Geraline Danet, Mercedes Govan, and Patricia Davis, with whom she shared deep family bonds and cherished memories.

To know Barbara was to know gentleness and generosity. She had a gift for making people feel seen and heard, whether through her thoughtful words, her warm embrace, or her ever present smile.

She found joy in the simple things through creating works of art, the laughter of children, and dedication to her church family. Her legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and grace. Her legacy lives on in the hearts she touched and the family she adored. Barbara Jean Stephens will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
